How to Test Your Forms
It is time to test the forms on your website. We run many tests while building forms, but we find it most helpful for website owners to run their own tests to be sure the forms are functioning as expected.
Before we begin, if you have not already done, so, please send us the email address(es) you would like form notifications sent to. You can use more than one address.
What to Look For
- Be sure you as the SITE OWNER get the email notifications you would expect to get.
- Be sure your notifications are being delivered to the email addresses they need to go to. If not, send us the addresses you would like them to be distributed to.
- Be sure you as the USER get the confirmation message and/or email notifications you would expect to get. (Email notifications aren't necessary with all forms, but they should at least see a confirmation message or "Thank You" page after submitting the form.)
- Take note of any malfunctions or improvements that could make for a better experience for your customers
- Make sure that email notifications, confirmations, and error messages make sense, and that they convey to the user what they can expect to happen next.
- If you are making a credit card payment through the form, you should get a separate email receipt from the payment processor, in addition to any notifications from the website.
- If you are re-directed after payment, be sure you end up on the page where you want your customers to end up once they complete their transaction. (Usually a “Thank You” page or your home page.)

Mobile Testing
Be sure to test your forms on your mobile devices.
NOTE: If your site is still under development, it has likely not been optimized for mobile display yet, so just report issues related to filling out and submitting forms. Formatting issuesin other areas of the site will be addressed separately once we get to that stage of development.
Payment Gateway Testing - Stripe
If you are collecting payments through the form, using the Stripe payment gateway:
- You can use any of the card numbers below to test the Stripe payment gateway:.
- While in test payment mode, not charges are not processed to your account, but you will receive notices as though they are.
- NOTE: Use any Name on Card, future Expiration Date, CVC code, and Billing Zip.
